The women’s cultural activist from Oman visited WFRC.

In her meeting with the faculty members of WFRC, the women’s cultural activist told that the Shia women in Oman have taken the women like Hadhrat Zahra (S) and Hadhrat Zeinab (S) as their model in order to preserve their Hijab (veil) and their religious laws and beliefs, but the Sunni women, because of the lack of a good religious model among their great people, could not have a good Islamic reaction to the society’s current situation, WFRC public relations reported.

She added that today, the Shia in a society like Oman, because of having a dynamic jurisprudence, in contrast to the closed Sunni legal reasoning, is more popular among those interested in the rule; since the Sunni centers for giving fatwā (Islamic verdicts) can not solve most of the problems of the day and most of the women’s affairs remain unanswered according to the legal reasoning of the Sunni religious scholars.

The women’s cultural activist added: considering the great interest of the women to higher education, the number of women in the university is more than the men and there is no limit for participation of the women in different social areas which has removed the traditional and Islamic view of the woman in Oman.
