Scientific conference on religion, family, and social developments held in Qom
Scientific conference on religion, family, and social developments was held in Qom with the participation of the President of the Holy See's Pontifical Council for the Family, director of Qom religious seminary (Hawza) for women and a number of officials and professional experts on the subject of woman and the family.

WFRC public relations reports that the latest social developments in the area of gender and family, and the role of religion and inter-religion interactions on managing family crises were discussed in the conference which was held by the Woman and Family Research Centre (WFRC) and with the cooperation of management centre of religious seminary (Hawza) for women, Foreign Ministry’s Agency in Qom, deputy- president for woman and family affairs, and the Shia- Catholic dialogue association.

At the beginning of the conference, the chief of WFRC, Hujjatu l-Islām wa l-Muslimīn Mohammad Reza Zibaei Nejad, said that healthy family is the most important building in Islam and the dearest structure to God and pointed to the great developments the family institute has experience in the recent centuries.

Explaining the responsibilities of religious clergies in Islam and Christianity in inter-religion areas and international interactions, the chief of WFRC presented solutions for inter-religion cooperation across the world and reminded the past common experiences of cooperation including “Maria Campaign” in the Beijing world meeting.  

Next, His Excellency archbishop, Paglia, regarded the family developments in the modern time balanced with those in the recent centuries and referring to the need for joint action of religions to encounter it systematically he called for serious and close Shia-Catholic relations on the area of woman and family.

Mrs. Alasvand, a member of policy-making council of religious seminary (Hawza) for women and member of faculty of WFRC, also referred to  the unchangeable principles of Abrahamic religions including heterosexuality, exogamy, complementarities of the two genders to each other based on their differences, and reproduction in a legal family atmosphere and pointed out that to preserve the principles the believers are obliged to preserve the divine family planning and to do this four aspects of family strategies can be followed including: preserving the love, preserving the mercy, preserving the generation, and preserving the role.

She explained strategies for each of the principles and presented solutions for inter-religion interactions to preserve the family. Making religious lobby against feministic theory of gender and taking a consultant position in the UN Commission on the Status of Women (UNCSW), presenting a balanced logic about housekeeping to remove the preciousness and the value of domestic roles of women from the image of many extremely traditionalist societies, presenting an intellectual system of preferences of the feminine and masculine roles; restoring the supportive and training role of the men in the form of marital and paternal roles, offering the proper hierarchical role in the family: marital role, paternal role, and parenting to prevent the strong oppressing the weak are among these strategies.
